And now we find ourselves in the last two month of the year, when meetings will slow down for the last two weeks of both November and December. The election results will set the tone for the rest of the year, as anticipation begins for what kind of year 2022 will be. Election Week also often coincides with a slower week, with Electoral Boards having the busiest of times. That’s the case over the next several days.

Week Ahead for October 25, 2021: Charlottesville to hold climate vulnerability forum; Council to meet with police review panel
There’s one week left in the tenth month of the year, a year which seems to have just started. This last week of October may seem sleepy, but these are often the weeks that end up the most tumultuous. There are no top-level meetings this week in Fluvanna County or Louisa County, but there’s plenty going on elsewhere in our coverage area.

Community members come together to plan Fifeville Trail
The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is working with the Fifeville Neighborhood Association (FNA) and the Rivanna Trails Foundation (RTF), the City of Charlottesville and many other community organizations to connect Greenstone on Fifth (an income-qualified housing development) to Tonsler Park and surrounding neighborhoods.

This first full week of October brings a return to a month when both the Charlottesville City Council and Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meet in the same calendar week. That will also happen in November but December will bring a return to split meetings. The end of the year is fast approaching.

Briefing Paper: Resources for Climate Action Planning in Albemarle County
This climate action planning brief was prepared for The Piedmont Environmental Council Albemarle County board and represents insights provided by a variety of resource specialists. The goal of the paper is to provide context for climate change in Albemarle County, as well as to establish a common vocabulary and highlight specific strategic areas, such as forest and farms, with potential to inspire successful adaptation strategies.
Week Ahead for September 20, 2021: CRHA to brief Council on redevelopment mechanisms; Albemarle to hold meeting on Rio Corridor Plan
There was a lot of activity last week, and this week is no different. The city’s public housing agency will check in with Council about how redevelopment projects are being structured. Albemarle County will check in with the public about a corridor plan for future development on Rio Road. There are regional meetings about transit, transportation, housing, and the Rivanna River.
