Camp Goals
The goals of the camp are:

  • to awaken an interest in our wonderfully beautiful and diverse natural surroundings
  • to observe living plants and animals in their natural habitats
  • to understand the role of human beings in this shared environment
  • to have fun and make new discoveries every day

Camp Theme
Communities is the theme for this year's camp. We will use natural communities as our models, and concentrate on building our own cooperative community of campers and counselors, new and old, past and future. We will explore such questions as:

  • What does it take to be a community member?
  • How does our community relate to larger communities such as our county, our state, our planet?
  • What have these communities done for us?
  • What is our place in them and how can we make them better?

Staff
Lyt Wood, Camp Director, is alocal arborist and one of the founders of the camp. He is experienced as an outdoor educator and has hosted the camp at his property since 1996.

Trista Scheuerlein, Assistant Director, is a gardener, musician, and teacher who coordinates the Farm to Table program at the Rappahannock County High School.

In addition, many artists, teachers, and wildlife experts contribute their support to the camp year after year.
