Video: Wrapping up 2020 at the Community Farm
We had an incredible 2020 season at the Community Farm at Roundabout Meadows! Thanks to the tireless work of over 470 volunteers, we donated more than 25,000 pounds of fresh, locally grown produce to our partners at Loudoun Hunger Relief!
What was expected to be a slow and steady increase in production this year turned into something much more, as PEC worked to respond to the local impacts of Covid-19. We increased production by 4x what it was in 2019!
We need your support as we plan for the fast-approaching 2021 season. Make a donation today.

Lending a Lens
At PEC, we have the privilege of working with countless individuals who are dedicated to protectingthis wonderful region. Carl Zitzmann is one such person. Some of you might not immediately recognize his name, but there’s a good chance that you’ve seen his photographs in one of our publications, weekly news emails, or on our website.

Helping Hands for Spout Run
CLARKE– Clarke County’s Spout Run watershed has the potential to provide clean water and support a large variety of wildlife species. Yet, the stream is on the State Impaired Waters List due to nutrient and sediment levels from fertilizers, livestock and other human-related activities. This is bad news not only for the wildlife and people living around the watershed, but also for communities downstream—including the Chesapeake Bay.
The Piedmont Through the Viewfinder
They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, and that couldn’t be more true than when it comes to the beauty of Virginia’s Piedmont. No one knows this better than our regional photographers.
With this region’s mountains, rolling farmland, forests, meadows, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife, plants, interesting towns and history—it’s enough to make anyone have to grab a camera and start shooting. PEC will continue to celebrate the Piedmont’s photographers of all skill levels with the opening of our 4th Annual Photo Contest this July. We’ve been delighted with the success of our past three contests, and we are excited to see this year’s submissions.
