Our Region
PEC focuses on nine counties and one city in the northern Piedmont of Virginia: Albemarle, Charlottesville, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.
We also team with local organizations to promote thriving communities and healthy natural resources in a much larger region, including the Shenandoah Valley, the central Piedmont, and the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Corridor. In addition, we are proud to serve as fiscal sponsor of the Coalition for Smarter Growth, an organization that focuses on land use and policy in the greater Washington D.C. area.

This week the federal government will turn over to a new administration, beginning a new era in American history. In Virginia, there are several people running for Governor while others campaign for other offices, either at the statewide level or for 100 seats up in the House of Delegates.
Loudoun Delays Decision on Aldie Assemblage, Sends to County Finance Committee
On January 13 the Board of Supervisors voted to send the entire land purchase/exchange agreement to the Finance, Government Operations and Economic Development committee. Our hope is that this committee will help clarify significant unanswered questions about Loudoun’s financial and legal responsibilities, Mojax’s appraisal for the properties in question, and other elements of the proposal that could be detrimental to the future of Aldie and its community members.
Greene County Zoning Audit
PEC will be monitoring this zoning audit as it moves forward and will alert you to opportunities to weigh in with the county on any proposed changes to the zoning ordinance.

Over the years, the Village of Rivanna Community Advisory Committee (VORCAC) has lobbied successfully to keep development in Albemarle County’s eastern growth area on the lower end of what is called for in a master plan for the area adopted in May 2010.
Jordan River Bridge Under Threat
