We’re excited to share a major win for clean energy and energy independence in Virginia. The State Corporation Commission (SCC) ruled that net metering, which is an essential part of rooftop solar, will remain unchanged!
Solarize Piedmont

During the summer of 2026, residents and businesses within PEC’s nine-county service area can take advantage of Solarize Piedmont — a partnership of The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC), the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and participating municipalities to bring solar power to more people in the Commonwealth.
The benefits of solar power are multi-fold: providing peak power close to the demand, energy independence, cost savings, local employment opportunities and emissions reductions. If you live in PEC’s service territory and have been thinking about putting solar power on your home, farm, or business, this is your opportunity to find out if it will work for you and take advantage of some very competitive pricing.
Our 2026 Solarize Piedmont campaign runs April 15 – July 15. Learn more and sign up!
