Northern Shenandoah Valley Drinking Water Testing Clinics

Virginia Cooperative Extension is providing this water quality clinic for residents in and around: Clarke County, Frederick County, Page County, Shenandoah County, and Warren County . Exact dates depend on your locality, however Clarke County pick up dates are October 26 or 27. Cost: $60/sample kit. Pre-registration required. Do you have a well, spring or cistern?

Learn about your water quality through affordable, confidential testing and become empowered to make decisions about system maintenance and water treatment! The goal of the Virginia Household Water Quality Program is to improve the water quality and health of Virginians with private water supplies, including wells, springs and cisterns.

How it works:

  1. Pick up a sample kit at your local Extension Office. (Physical distancing measures will be in place, and masks are required).
  2. Participate in the live Zoom Kick-Off Session.
  3. Collect samples on designated date, and drop off at your local Extension Office. (Physical distancing measures will be in place, and masks are required).
  4. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech.
  5. Receive your confidential results and information about addressing any problems via mail or email. A live video or recorded video presentation will be available to help you understand your results.

All participant information is kept strictly confidential.

Testing includes:

  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • Coliform bacteria
  • Arsenic
  • Sulfate
  • Sodium
  • Copper
  • E. coli bacteria
  • Lead
  • Nitrate
  • Fluoride
  • Hardness
  • Total Dissolved Solids
  • pH

Cost: $60/sample kit

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 14, 2020

REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be given after October 14, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Any refunds issued will incur a $5 processing fee.
