10/1/15: Update on Warrenton-Wheeler Transmission Line Case

Following a two day evidentiary hearing in Richmond in August 2015 and one final public hearing was held in Warrenton on August 10, 2015, the Warrenton to Wheeler transmission line case is slowly moving towards resolution.

Dominion continues to support Option C, the rebuilding of the 230 kV line between Remington and Warrenton, combined with a rebuild and some new construction in western Prince William County. State Corporation Commission staff continue to insist that the Commission consider Option A, a line straight across undeveloped portions of Fauquier County.

In order to approve the transmission line Dominion must show that the line is needed and that the corridor chosen reasonably minimizes adverse impacts on the scenic assets, historic districts and the environment in the area concerned. All parties had to submit written comments to Senior Hearing Examiner Alexander Skirpan by October 1, 2015. Thereafter he will be making a recommendation to the full Commission.
