National Trails Weekend

Join The Piedmont Environmental Council, Fauquier Trails Coalition, and Fauquier County's Department Parks and Recreation in extending National Trails Day for an entire weekend of events!  Below is a tentative schedule of events. PEC will be updating the schedule as details become finalized.

Friday, June 6th:

Warrenton's First Friday — Celebrate the Art in Old Town

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Partnership for Warrenton's First Friday. Visit the Fauquier Trails Coalition table to learn more about trails throughout the county, pick up walking and biking maps, and hear about the weekend's schedule of events. Be sure to find out about PEC's art+fundraising event at SoLee Art Studio on Saturday night!

Saturday, June 7th:

Fauquier Trails Coalition Annual National Trails Day 5K

9:00AM: Join Fauquier Trails Coalition for their Annual 5K Trails Challenge, Swiss Alps edition! The fun-run will begin and end at the trailhead located at the east side of the Lord Fairfax Community College parking lot. Registration will be $25 in advance and $30 on race day with proceeds benefiting trail expansion throughout the county. For more information and to sign-up online, visit Fauquier Trails Coalition

Art Along the Trail 

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: After the 5K, take a stroll along the trail to preview the nature and trail inspired art by local artists at SoLee Studio, located at 70 South Fifth Street (near the trail's 5th Street bridge). Stake your claim on your favorite piece of art and join us later for the official studio opening celebration. A portion of the proceeds from art sold will go toward the Trail Expansion Fund.

Warrenton Branch Greenway Cleanup

11:30 AM:  Get a preview of the Warrengton Branch Greenway Extension while giving Fauquier County Parks and Recreation a helping hand by cleaning up litter and undergrowth. This will be a rare opportunity to see the extended mileage before it's completed! Meet at the current end of the Greenway near the Route 29 bridge (next to where the Extension sign is located). Bring gloves and your friends and family!

Woods at Warrenton Trail Preview

1:30 PM: Enjoy a casual stroll along the soon to be constructed Woods at Warrenton Trail! Fauquier County Parks and Recreation staff will discuss the trail highlights and construction schedule. Meet at the end of Academy Hill Road Extended. 

Art Studio Opening + Trail Fundraiser

5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: As part of the trail celebration, the SoLee Studio located at 70 South Fifth Street (a few steps from the trail's bridge over Fifth Street) will present a special trail and nature inspired art show, including th work from local and acclaimed artists. Join us for live music, appetizers, and an exception evening celebrating art and our local trail. A portion of the proceeds for any art sold during the show will be donated to the Trail Expansion Fund.
