Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District and Virginia Cooperative Extension, Agriculture and Natural Resources will host Renee Hoyos, Director of Environmental Justice at the Department of Environmental Quality for an introduction to the DEQ's efforts in environmental justice and a discussion of water equity and sustainability.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension - Virginia State University is hosting an ethnic vegetable workshop at Carter Farm (26444 Carters Lane, Unionville, VA). Demand for ethnic food offers small farmers tremendous opportunities to diversify their food production systems to appeal to immigrants, particularly African (West and East African), Caribbean, Asian (Indian and Chinese) and Hispanic populations. Small Farm Resource Center coordinator and chief grower for Carter Farms Michael Carter Jr. will lead this workshop to show small farmers how to grow and market-specific crops that appeal to these customers.

The Virginia Environmental Assembly brings together conservation leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss Our Common Agenda to protect Virginia’s natural resources. This annual conference is hosted by Virginia Conservation Network, the partnership of more than 150 Virginia environmental organizations.

The serious impact of heat on health (both physical and mental); environmental justice, agriculture and the planet, along with other related climate crisis topics, will be discussed by a distinguished panel of experts in a virtual format on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 6:30- 8:00 PM EDT. Questions and discussion with the panelists are encouraged. This free event is organized by Citizens’ Climate Lobby Charlottesville, and co-hosted by all Citizens’ Climate Lobby Virginia chapters.
