Sperryville Trail Network Invasives Removal and Trash Pick-Up Work Day

November 12, 2022 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection and the Sperryville Community Alliance are co-sponsoring a morning of invasives removal and cleanup along the Sperryville Trail Network on Saturday, November 12. We’ll focus on a few portions of the trail in the vicinity of the Village along the Thornton River.

Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • invasives removal (e.g., cutting ivy on trees, removing bittersweet, honeysuckle, and multi-flora rose);
  • laying down cardboard on areas that have been mowed to inhibit invasives growth, and covering these areas with mulch and/or wood chips;
  • picking up trash along the trail.

Please bring your gloves and tools. We’ll also have some gloves and tools (pruners, shears, loppers, shovels) on hand to borrow.

You’ll have fun, and help us continue to improve this much-loved community amenity! Refreshments and prizes for volunteers!

Please sign up on Eventbrite so we know how many volunteers to expect: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sperryville-trail-network-invasives-removal-nov-12-9am-to-noon-tickets-444873206737?blm_aid=29009948
