Guided Trail Hike at Heyward Community Forest

Fall is here! Take a hike with Charlottesville Parks and Recreation staff, who are hosting a guided hike at Heyward Community Forest on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Sign up at: https://webtrac.charlottesville.gov/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/search.html?module=AR&type=EX,OUT
On this 2-mile hike you will see beautiful cascading streams, a variety of trees, rock outcrops, small mountains, and shady hollows. The estimated time is roughly 1.5 hours with breaks.
Educational emphasis will focus on basic vegetation identification and the natural ecology of this forested landscape.
Trails vary from easy to moderate with a few short stretches of steep inclines. Participants should bring their own water, snacks, and hiking/athletic shoes. No prior hiking experience is necessary.
