Mardi Gras Bike Ride + Procession

March 1, 2022 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Laissez les bons temps rouler with a low-stress ride through the streets of Charlottesville, followed by a (bikes optional) Karnival Krewe procession! Deck out your bike (and yourself) with Mardi Gras flair, bright colors, and music! The progressive celebration will finish at Champion Brewing Company with music by Baby Jo’s.

Invite your friends and make some new ones! Whether you’re an experienced bicyclist or not, come out and enjoy a fun evening. It’s free and open to all.

We’ll gather at Quality Pie (309 Avon Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902) starting at 4:30 p.m. The ride itself will begin at 5:30 p.m., follow bike lanes and quiet neighborhood streets wherever possible. We will stop and take at least one break in a park along the way. The ride will return to Quality Pie, at which point we will join a (bikes optional) procession (starting at 6:30 p.m.) through the streets of Belmont, ending at Champion Brewing Company, where there will be live music from Baby Jo’s.

Staff and volunteers from Community Bikes and the Piedmont Environmental Council will be on-hand to help. Stop by a bit early if you’d like to help – or need help – with decorations/repairs. This is a twilight ride–if you don’t already have a headlight/taillight we will hook you up.

This event is happening in conjunction with the Second Annual Mobility Summit on February 28. We hope you’ll consider attending!

Questions? Contact Peter Krebs at [email protected].

BikeCville is made possible by a grant from the Bama Works Fund to encourage safe bicycling and create a stronger network of bicycle advocates.
