Charlottesville/Albemarle Active Mobility Summit
February 28 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
At this free, half-day workshop, representatives from organizations, local businesses, agencies and passionate individuals who share a mission to promote walking, biking, running, everyday access to nature and active lifestyles will gather to identify areas of collaboration and lay out work plans.
This event will build on last year’s first annual summit and will be an opportunity to advance several successful projects and launch new ones that have critical momentum.
The summit will be broken up into two sessions with a 60-minute break for lunch:
- Morning session: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Afternoon session: 1 – 3 p.m.
Registration is required:
We hope to pair the summit with an in-person, outdoors social event. More information about the summit and the social to come. Learn more about the Piedmont Mobility Alliance.
Example topics of discussion:
- Bike Month (May)
- Bicycle race and festival (April)
- Equity in the Outdoors
- Making it easier to find (and find one’s way around on) local trails
- Mobile Bike Clinics
- Open Streets project or temporary sidewalk/bikelane projects
- Promoting Transit and Increasing Ridership
- Working together to build and maintain trails
Dr. Selena Cozart will facilitate this second annual meeting, which will include morning and afternoon sessions, with a midday break in between. It is free and anyone can attend as long as they bring a willingness to work, along with great ideas. Organizations are encouraged to send more than one representative. There are likely to be multiple workgroups that align with organizations’ missions.
