Solar for Rural Businesses Workshop: Accessing Funding for Small-Scale Solar

May 7, 2024 @ 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Learn how to more-easily access small-scale solar and energy efficiency improvements for your business or agricultural operation through the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), Investment Tax Credits and Solar Renewable Energy Certificates alongside solar installers, grant specialists and a business that successfully went solar. Register today →

At this free workshop, local solar installers Tiger Solar and SunDay Solar (both selected by the USDA to be REAP grant technical advisors) will be available to answer your questions and help get you signed up to take advantage of this grant opportunity. Speakers will also include The Piedmont Environmental Council, Climate Protection Program of Albemarle County, Powers Farm & Brewery, and Solar United Neighbors. Lunch will be provided. Please email Montana Lanier at [email protected] with any dietary restrictions.

Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) provides grants for up to 50% percent of project costs for the installation of solar systems and energy efficiency improvements such as HVAC, heat pumps, and insulation. Over time, these investments can help lower the cost of energy for small businesses and agricultural producers while positively impacting the supply of clean energy.

Grant eligibility: All of PEC’s nine counties (Albemarle, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock) and the City of Charlottesville are eligible, excluding parts of Loudoun County east of Leesburg. Am I eligible? Business types eligible include all agricultural and processing businesses, agritourism such as wineries and breweries, florists, printers, storage facilities, medical practices, car shops, and more. Find the full list here →

Thank you to our sponsors: Climate Protection Program of Albemarle County, Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action, Community Climate Collaborative (C3), American Farmland Trust, and the Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District.
