Data Center Lobby Day

January 20 @ 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

The Data Center Reform Coalition is excited to announce our 2025 Lobby Day slated for January 20, 2025.

Our coalition is comprised of more than 25 advocacy and nonprofit organizations that span the environmental, conservation, historic preservation, and climate landscape. We represent thousands of diverse communities and voices across Virginia.

Together, we are urging state lawmakers to take action on the unchecked, exponential growth of data centers in Virginia.

Virginia is home to the world’s largest concentration of data centers in the world, dwarfing all other global markets. Each of these data centers consumes as much power as a small city, creating a huge increase in future electricity infrastructure needs, and their continued, unfettered growth will have a disastrous impact on ratepayers, our communities, and the environment.

Several pieces of legislation have been introduced for the 2025 General Assembly session that advocate for a smarter development approach and embrace our four main pillars of reform:

  • Enhanced Transparency
  • Ratepayer Protections
  • State Oversight
  • Tax Incentive Reform.

We believe we can get legislation in place this year to bring about a smarter digital future for our state. Help us spread the word on January 20!

This event is your chance to lobby with fellow advocates in your district for a smarter development approach to data centers in our state. You will be led in your meetings by a lobbying expert, so there is no need to be a seasoned advocate. Moreover, the Coalition will host a prep meeting, open to all who register to answer questions and go over what we are asking lawmakers to support.

NOTE: If you are signing up after Thursday, Jan 16 at 4:00 p.m., we will NOT be able to schedule any more legislator meetings. If we already have a meeting booked with your legislator, you are welcome to tag along for that meeting. Additionally, please refrain from organizing legislator meetings yourself, as we want to avoid overscheduling or double-booking during our event. You are STILL welcome to reserve a seat on the bus and join us for the rest of Lobby Day, but we can no longer organize legislator meetings for you. We can’t wait to lobby with you on Monday, Jan. 20! If you have any questions, reach out to Samantha Eley at [email protected].
