Dark Sky Event at Rappahannock County Park

The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) and the Rappahannock County Recreational Facilities Authority will host the first of four “Dark Sky” events for 2024 at the Rappahannock County Park on Saturday evening, May 11. This event will begin at 8:15 PM at the Park Pavilion and feature two short presentations.
The first presentation by Joyce Harman (RLEP) is titled “The Solar Eclipse Adventures.” Joyce will share her experiences and photos of the total eclipse that occurred on April 8.
The second presentation by Milt Roney (Northern Virginia Astronomy Club), is titled “The Solar Cycle.” Milt will provide some insights into the sun’s behavior during its 11-year solar cycle.
Following the presentations, the public will be invited to observe the night skies with available telescopes.
