Elizabeth Ransom joined the PEC communications team as the Media & Public Relations Specialist in January 2026, motivated to contribute to PEC’s mission to protect and restore the lands and waters of the Virginia Piedmont. Previously, Elizabeth led Persuasive PR, a small business providing communications and public relations support to clients including Virginia parks authority NOVA Parks. She has also worked as an international health communicator for groups like Save the Children and the U.S. Department of State. She began her career in radio journalism at Voice of America and loves working with print, radio and TV reporters in storytelling. Elizabeth earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary and a master’s from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
While living in Loudoun County, Elizabeth certified as a Virginia Master Naturalist at the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve and served on the Leesburg Town Commission on Public Art. She now serves as a member of the Advisory Council at George Mason University School of Art and as a mentor in the Readers Rise program with Arlington County Public Schools. In her free time, Elizabeth loves taking long nature walks with her husband, spying on and photographing birds, listening to live music, traveling to exotic locales, and cooking elaborate meals for family and friends.
