On October 21, Solar United Neighbors hosted a webinar on Dominion Energy’s proposal to severely limit net metering. Net metering is a system that provides solar owners a monthly credit on their bill for energy their solar panels produce. The excess, unused energy is sent to the grid. You share energy with your neighbors and your utility rewards you with credit that can pay off future bills. Dominion wants to take that away.

On this webinar, PEC’s Senior Energy & Climate Policy Advisor, Ashish Kapoor, spoke about PEC’s involvement in the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) case on net metering, as well as findings from our recently commissioned report, Value of Distributed Solar in Virginia: A Framework for Fair Net-Metering Compensation.

Solar advocates recently defeated Appalachian Power Company’s attempt to cut net metering. Now, it’s time to protect Virginians in Dominion territory.
