Webinar: The Fight to Stop Dominion’s Attack on Small-Scale Solar

October 21 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Dominion Energy is trying to pass a proposal that would severely limit a Virginia policy called net metering.

With net metering, solar owners receive a monthly credit on their bill for energy their solar panels produce. The excess, unused energy is sent to the grid. You share energy with your neighbors,  and your utility rewards you with credit that can pay off future bills. Dominion wants to take that away.

Learn the details of Dominion’s proposal, as well as what you can do to stop it from passing in this webinar hosted by Solar United Neighbors. PEC’s Energy & Climate Policy Advisor, Ashish Kapoor, will speak about our involvement in the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) case about net metering as well as our recently commissioned report Value of Distributed Solar in Virginia: A Framework for Fair Net-Metering Compensation.

Topics covered in this webinar:

  • Examine Dominion’s proposal to weaken Net Metering (NEM)
  • Outline NEM’s wide-ranging energy and social benefits
  • Synthesize findings from a new PEC-commissioned Dunsky report that analyzes the value of solar in Virginia
  • Share ways to join the fight to protect NEM

Solar advocates recently defeated Appalachian Power Company’s attempt to cut net metering . Now, it’s time to protect Virginians in Dominion territory.
