SUMMARY:Cville Bike to Work Week: Kickoff Party
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in biking to work–or maybe curious about it? Do you like hanging out with people who bike? Hop on your bike and ride (or stroll) to Three Notch’d to celebrate Bike to Work Week! Numerous veteran bike commuters will be on hand to offer recommendations and to answer any questions you might have. \n\n\n\nThree Notch’d will have something special to the first 30 people who arrive on bike\, plus free snacks! For more information\, please contact Peter Krebs (pkrebs@pecva.org). \n\n\n\nLocation: Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery520 Second Street\, SECharlottesville\, VA 22902 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCycling to work (or school or wherever you go!) has many benefits. It costs less and is more fun than driving; it provides a dose of exercise while most other people are sitting; it reduces greenhouse gas emissions–and it impresses colleagues! SUMMARY:Cville Bike to Work Week: Tuesday Bike Bus and Appreciation Stations
DESCRIPTION:Interested in biking to work (or wherever you go) but afraid to try it? Looking for safety in numbers? Do you simply enjoy meeting–and riding with–other people? \n\n\n\nJoin this moderately-paced group ride that will cross town\, picking up and dropping off cyclists along the way as we bike to work. Like a bus\, the group will make scheduled stops and riders are free to come and go as best suits their travel needs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere’s the route [View Map]: \n\n\n\n7:45 a.m. The Wool Factory (1837 Broadway Street)7:50 a.m. Riverview Park8:00 a.m. Meade Park8:15 a.m. Downtown (The Piedmont Environmental Council\, 410 East Water Street)*8:30 a.m. The Rotunda8:45 a.m. UVA Facilities (Skipwith Hall\, 1490 Leake Drive)* \n\n\n\n*There will be Bike to Work Appreciation Stations at The Piedmont Environmental Council (snacks from Blue Ridge Country Store!) and at Skipwith Hall\, with snacks\, swag and lots of encouragement! \n\n\n\nAlthough one need not be an expert cyclist\, riders will be expected to have a bike that is in good working order and be able to maintain a moderate pace. This “bike bus” is a commute to work\, so we’re hoping to make sure everyone arrives on time to their workplace destinations! \n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact Peter Krebs (pkrebs@pecva.org)\, (434) 465-969.
