It’s a patchwork of forest\, livestock pasture\, and mountainous fields that was actively farmed and heavily grazed by cattle from the late 18th century until the recent past. \n\n\n\nIn 2012\, with funding from the USDA\, PEC began an extensive restoration effort on the 50-acre parcel. We first eliminated fescue and other non-native plants from the pasture and then seeded native grasses and wildflowers. The property now serves as an active demonstration site for landowners interested in seeing the outcomes of habitat restoration practices.  \n\n\n\nThe 16-acre native meadow is home to songbirds\, butterflies\, raptors\, bees and black bears. Native wildflower species provide forage for pollinators and habitat for grassland and shrubland birds. Yoga is about quieting the mind in order to connect with our true selves and the universe. What better place to do that than the Piedmont Memorial Overlook at sunset\, with its panoramic views and serene natural surroundings? In this practice\, we will incorporate gentle movement\, standing poses and stretches\, helping to promote strength and flexibility in the body and the mind. After the practice\, there will be time to take in the beautiful views and take photos.  \n\n\n\nAbout your instructor: Lindsey Loving is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with nearly 300 hours of training and thousands of hours of practice. She received her yoga teaching certification in 2023 through the Yoga Alliance and specializes in Vinyasa yoga\, which emphasizes connecting breath with movement in a “flow” from one pose (or asana) to another.
