Reducing Single Occupancy Vehicle Trips Regionally

January 22, 2020 06:30 pm - 08:30 pm
Location: CitySpace, 100 5th Street Northeast , Charlottesville, Virginia

PEC, Smart Cville and the City of Charlottesville are holding a listening session on January 22 to hear from individuals about how they get around the greater Charlottesville region.

As the Charlottesville area becomes more populous, planners and officials would like more people to use alternatives to driving in order to alleviate congestion. To make that a reality, we need to better understand why a majority of commuters continue to drive alone to their workplace.

The session will be facilitated by the Institute of Environmental Negotiation at the University of Virginia. Stories gathered will be used to help stakeholders develop a more complete picture of how to build a robust transportation system where walking, biking, carpooling and transit all play a greater role in moving people around. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in CitySpace. Attendees are eligible to receive bus passes from CAT and JAUNT.
