Virginia Forage & Grassland Council Forage Tour: Holsinger Field Day

Join Virginia Forage & Grassland Council to explore a successful silvopasture where timber and cattle are managed together for profit, wildlife habitat, and resource conservation on September 28, 2021 at Holsinger Homeplace Farms, Broadway, Virginia and Good Plains Farm, Timberville, VA. We will also look at summer stockpiling for early fall grazing, as well as intensive grazing management strategies.

The first stop on our tour features Holsinger Homeplace Farms, a bicentennial family farm in Broadway VA that supports the Holsinger’s herd of grass-fed Galloways, as well as one of the most successful silvopasture systems in Virginia. Our second stop features Good Plains Farm in Timberville, another bicentennial farm that is getting a fresh start under management intensive grazing to produce direct-sale grassfed beef.
