Much of what determines the quality of life in and sustainability and resiliency of the Piedmont region is influenced by policy decisions made by federal, state, and local governments.

The third webinar in our Quarterly Keynote series will feature a conversation between PEC President Chris Miller and Campaign Legal Center founder and president Trevor Potter, a nationally recognized expert on campaign and election law.

Together, Miller and Potter will explore how current developments in election law and process could impact the Piedmont region and discuss ways we can all be better informed and effective advocates. Register for the webinar here.

This event is free for PEC members. Suggested donation of $10 for non-members.

About our Guest Speaker: Trevor Potter

Trevor Potter is the founder and president of Campaign Legal Center (CLC), a Washington, D.C.-based nonpartisan nonprofit that participates in legal proceedings across the country to defend the right to vote, improve the disclosure and regulation of campaign finance, and promote high ethical standards in government.

Potter is a former Republican Chairman of the Federal Election Commission and was General Counsel to John McCain’s 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns. To many, he is perhaps best known for his recurring appearances on The Colbert Report as the lawyer for Stephen Colbert’s super PAC during the 2012 election. The American Bar Association Journal has described Potter as “hands-down one of the top lawyers in the country on the delicate intersection of politics, law and money.”

Potter has recently appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper, on CBS’s morning news show Face the Nation, on NBC’s Nightly News, and in the films Dark Money (2018) and The King (2017). His writing has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post and The Hill.
