Amelia Hughes joined the Piedmont Environmental Council in August 2022, after receiving her M.A. in Architectural History and Historic Preservation certificate from the University of Virginia. Her work there included researching and documenting a variety of cultural landscapes throughout central Virginia. She has also worked extensively with Cultural Heritage Informatics, using digital tools and methods to document and study structures and landscapes, both local and international.

Amelia is originally from Chicago, Illinois, where she worked in marketing. But after moving to Virginia nine years ago and falling in love with the area, she changed paths to pursue her passion for preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage and landscape.
