Fauquier County

On April 17, 2016, Friends of the Rappahannock, John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District, and The Piedmont Environmental Council hosted the 2nd annual "From the Rappahannock, For the Rappahannock" event at Marriott Ranch in Fauquier County.

Visitors learned about efforts to protect land and water resources in the headwaters of the Rappahannock River. 250 trees were planted along Fiery Run, John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District led hay rides to show the ranch's conservation practices, and Friends of the Rappahannock gave a fish electro-shocking demonstration. And most importantly, attendees enjoyed Rappahannock oysters, local wine and beer with their friends and neighbors!

Thanks to all who got their hands dirty for clean water - we hope to see you next year!
