Fauquier County

On April 11, 2015, Friends of the Rappahannock, John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District, and The Piedmont Environmental Council hosted our first annual "From the Rappahannock, For the Rappahannock" event at Marriott Ranch in Fauquier County.

With more than 160 people planting trees and attending throughout the day - visitors learned about the importance of protecting our important land and water resources in the headwaters for the betterment of the entire watershed, down to the Chesapeake Bay. The day was filled with tree plantings and hay rides to see the conservation practices, fly tying lessons, macroinvertibrate and electro-fishing demonstrations, and most importantly - enjoying the bounty of our watershed with local oysters and beer with friends and neighbors!

Thank you to all who got their hands dirtier for cleaner water - and we hope to see you next year!
