The Virginia Land Preservation Tax Credit (LPTC) is one of the most successful state land conservation programs in the nation. --HOW DOES THE LPTC WORK? The LPTC gives landowners a tax credit equal to 40% of the value of a donated conservation easement or qualifying donated property. This tax credit can either be used on their own tax return, or sold to other Virginia taxpayers. HAS THE LPTC BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN CONSERVING LAND? Yes.
