X-WR-CALDESC:\n	\n As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary, The Piedmont Environmental Council is excited to bring Richard Louv, best-selling author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principle, to the Piedmont —sparking ideas to help people and nature reconnect.\n	\n Tickets are $12 per adult and $8 per student.\n	\n Tickets to see Richard Louv in Leesburg can be purchased online through March 13, tickets will also be sold at the door on the night of the event.\n	\n We will also be hosting Richard Louv in Charlottesville on March 15.\n	\n \n	\n More About Richard Louv\n	\n Richard Louv introduced the term "nature-deficit disorder" in his best-selling book Last Child in the Woods, as a way to describe the growing gap between children and nature. He wrote, “Our children are the first generation to be raised without meaningful contact with the natural world." Last Child in The Woods, which has helped to start an international movement since it came out in 2005, explores the increasing divide between children and the natural world. It also presents a growing body of research indicating that this divide threatens people's health, our creativity, our spiritual life, and our stewardship of the environment.\n	\n A few years later, Louv recounts, a woman literally grabbed him by the lapels and said, "Listen to me, adults have nature-deficit disorder, too." He says, "She was right, of course." Her assertion became the starting point for Louv's newest book The Nature Principle, which explores ways that adults can bring more nature into our everyday lives--where we live, work, and play. In both books, Louv offers a positive vision for the future in which people of all ages reap extraordinary benefits by connecting, or reconnecting, with nature.\n	\n “The future will belong to the nature-smart—those individuals, families, businesses, and political leaders who develop a deeper understanding of the transformative power of the natural world and who balance the virtual with the real. The more high-tech we become, the more nature we need.” —Richard Louv\n	\n \n	\n Additional Details:\n	\n Mr. Louv's books will be available to purchase at the event, and a free book signing will follow the lecture. New or renewing PEC members at the $35 level will recieve a free copy of either Last Child in the Woods or The Nature Principle. \n	\n \n	\n The VIP Ticket option includes a Meet the Author Reception at Lightfoot Restaurant at 5:30pm.
