The Civil War 150 Legacy Project

PEC is working with Fauquier County's Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee to help the community develop a sense of place and to document Fauquier County history. The Library of Virginia will be coming on January 7 and 8, 2011 from 10am-8pm to electronically record historic documents maintained by Fauquier families, as part of The Civil War 150 Legacy Project. Appointments are recommended and walk-in's will be accommodated on a first come basis. To register for an appointment, please contact Lory Payne at (540) 439-3303. Items suitable for the Civil War 150 Legacy Project include:

  • Letters
  • Military passes / discharge papers
  • Diaries
  • Photographs
  • Hand-drawn maps
  • Pension materials
  • Hand-drawn sketches
  • Other documentary materials not listed
  • Claims for damages by the Confederate Army or Federal Army

**Items must be owned by the individual presenting the materials for digitization. Materials that are photocopied and/or subject to United States copyright law may not be submitted for digitization.
