Proposed Changes to the Catlett, Calverton & Midland Comprehensive Plan
The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 18, 2010 to discuss proposed changes to the Catlett, Calverton & Midland Service District Plan.
The general purpose of Service District plans is to outline estimated residential growth and commercial and industrial development. The plan not only estimates the amount of growth in the next 5-10 years, it also indicates areas is each Service District where growth should take place.
The new 2009 Service District Plans for the villages of Catlett, Calverton and Midland indicate less residential growth than the existing 2002 Service District plans. Most important, the new 2009 plan also reduces the Service District areas; i.e., the number of acres in each Service District has been moderately reduced.
PEC supports these new 2009 Service District plans because of existing conditions and zoning and the ability to provide services in the foreseeable future. See the Catlett Farms, LLC
rezoning request, which includes a new sewer plant. Also Rt. 28 through Catlett, Calverton and Midland is a two-lane road which cannot accommodate very much increased traffic, especially during rush hour. VDOT has no money to improve or widen Rt. 28 in for the foreseeable future.
