Presentations from the March 11, 2010 Uranium Symposium
In March, 2010, a symposium of uranium mining experts shared the following presentations. The program was put on in cooperation with Friends of the Earth, the Dan River Basin Association, PEC, Sierra Club, SELC, VCN, and VA Interfaith Power and Light.
Dr. Brugge is Professor in the Department of Public Heath and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He has written numerous analyses of the health impacts of uranium mining and processing.
Dr. Edwards is a founding member and president of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility, a nonprofit organization that began in 1975. He has acted as a consultant on nuclear issues for agencies in every province and territory of Canada.
Robinson is an environmental analyst, natural resource management planner, and environmental and technology assessment consultant. He is also the research director of the Southwest Research & Information Center.
Mr. Pino is a professor of sociology and American Indian Studies at Scottsdale Community College. A member of the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico, his research focuses on environmental issues and their impacts on Native Americans.
Dr. Teule is an expert on all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle with Greenpeace International. She has examined areas with radioactive contamination around the world, including a recent visit to two uranium mines in Niger, Africa.
