Improving Leesburg's Urban Watersheds
Improving Leesburg's Urban Watersheds
PEC has been working with the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) and the Town of Leesburg on a project to improve Leesburg's urban watersheds. CWP recently released a report on the first phase of the project which involves a baseline watershed assessment, as well as the identification of opportunities for stormwater retrofit, upland pollution prevention, conservation areas, and stream corridor restoration. After holding a stakeholder meeting in April 2007, PEC is currently working with the Leesburg Watershed Steering Committee to further review the report to make a community-based recommendation to the Town Council. PEC plans to implement demonstration projects based on some of the recommendations in the report.
