Virginia Supreme Court Upholds TrAIL Approval

On November 5, 2009 we received word that the VA Supreme Court has decided to uphold the approval of the Dominion and Allegheny TrAIL line. PEC is disappointed by the ruling, which explicitly endorses a business as usual approach to transmission line siting. We continue to believe that these lines should be held to a higher standard than the "acceptable solution" level adopted by the SCC --particularly when there are less destructive, cleaner, and more cost-effective alternatives available to meet our energy demands.

We are very grateful to all of the citizens, groups and counties who offered support and leadership throughout the past few years. We are still very active in the SCC proceeding regarding Allegheny's PATH transmission line. Stay tuned for more on that in the coming months.
