Mission

Empower students to lead the way to a "bright future" in Virginia by reducing energy consumption among family and friends.
Students teach adults the economic and environmental benefits of replacing incandescent light bulbs with the far more energy-efficient CFLs and supply these bulbs through a reasonably priced fundraising program. Students participating in this program can easily see what a positive impact they can have:
25 students in a classroom, selling 1 package of bulbs each, would be equivalent to:
* Saving $4,100 in energy costs, or
* Preventing 50,000 lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, or
* Planting 17 trees.
4 classrooms in a grade would be equivalent to:
* Saving $16,500 in energy costs, or
* Preventing 200,00 Lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, or
* Planting 68 trees.
20 classrooms in a school would be equivalent to:
* Saving $83,000 in energy costs, or
* Preventing 1 million lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, or
* Planting 340 trees,or
* Taking 9 cars off the road for a year.
5 schools in a community would be equivalent to:
* Saving $414,000 in energy costs, or
* Preventing 5 million lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, or
* Planting 1700 Trees, or
* Taking 42 cars off the road for a year.
