Stacey Carlberg

I came to PEC because I believed the organization helped to preserve the rural countryside and economies by supporting smart community growth and I wanted to be a part of that.

Stacey Carlberg joined PEC in April of 2008 to coordinate the Fellowship Program. She came to PEC from the fields of Waterpenny Farm in Rappahannock County, where she served as lead intern and intern manager for two full seasons. It was here that she gained an appreciation for the beauty of the Piedmont and a desire to preserve and support farming communities. She helped organize events for the Crossroads Farmers Market in Takoma Park, MD, which aims to support immigrant vendors and resource-limited consumers. Before her entry into agriculture on the east coast, Stacey worked in the non-profit sector in Seattle, organizing environmental service projects for high school students with the YMCA Earth Service Corps and battling for prioritized clean-up at the Hanford nuclear waste site with Heart of America Northwest.

Stacey is originally from Ohio, and is a buckeye at heart. She graduated with a degree in Evolution and Ecology from the Ohio State University. She loves to get dirty in the garden and cook up fresh, seasonal dishes.
