Melissa Wiley joined PEC in 2005 and currently serves as the director of the Buy Fresh Buy Local initiative. In addition to a focus on local food systems, her work at PEC encompasses development, community outreach and special events planning.

Prior to joining PEC, Melissa served as the marketing manager for the Boston History Collaborative, where she helped develop and promote heritage tourism programs in the Boston area.

She also had the privilege of working for San Francisco Architectural Heritage for whom she prepared National Register of Historic Places nominations for historic buildings in San Francisco.

She holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Anthropology and Spanish, and a M.A. in Historic Preservation from the University of Georgia.

Melissa, her husband Peter, and their one year old daughter Violet, live in downtown Charlottesville.
