Celebrate the completion of the architectural restoration and the birthday of the U.S. Constitution with a free visit to Montpelier, the lifelong home of James Madison. A four-year restoration returns the mansion rooms to James' and Dolley's retirement era. While the architectural restoration will be completed, restoration of furnishings and décor is just beginning, so the house will contain limited furnishings. Festivities and special appearances include:
- Chief Justice John Roberts, United States Supreme Court
- Jim Lehrer, The News Hour, WETA, PBS
- James and Dolley Madison
- A "Living Flag" with 2,500 school children
- U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps
- Singing of the Star Spangled Banner
- Ribbon Cutting of the Restored Mansion
