Ed Gorksi

As a planner with over thirty years of professional experience it is refreshing to work for an organization such as the Piedmont Environmental Council who goal is first and foremost the preservation of the essential threads of the fabric which makes up the tapestry of the Virginia piedmont.

Ed received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Affairs from Wilkes University, located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and a Masters of City and Regional Planning from the Catholic University of America, located in Washington, D.C. Ed has over twenty-nine years of professional planning experience with a variety of county, city, regional and not-for-profit planning agencies, including the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, Virginia, and Frederick County, Maryland. Ed is currently the Loudoun County Land Use Officer for the Leesburg office of the Piedmont Environmental Council. He is responsible for various projects dealing with land use and environmental planning, conservation preservation, transportation planning, and historic preservation.

In his leisure time Ed likes to canoe and camp with his wife, Janet. He is an active member of the American Canoe Association. Currently Ed is working on his Master's of Arts in US History at George Mason University and hopes to eventually obtain his Doctorate in US History from GMU.
