Conservation Workshop for Landowners April 30th

For Immediate Release

Conservation Easement Workshop for Landowners
Workshop to be Held April 30

Fauquier County will soon celebrate its 250th Anniversary on May 1, 2009. In celebration of this historic milestone, The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) invites you to join us for an easement workshop on April 30th from 6:30-8:30PM at the Warrenton Visitors Center. In addition to an overview of the financial aspects associated with donation of a conservation easement by PEC, the workshop will also feature presentations by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and the Civil War Preservation Trust. Landowners will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the National Register of Historic Places and Virginia Landmarks Register as well as local community-based preservation planning efforts for Fauquier's battlefields.

This easement workshop is specifically designed for landowners with property located in one of Fauquier's battlefields. There are twelve Civil War battlefields located in Fauquier that are listed among the 384 most important battlefields in the Civil War. This list includes: Aldie, Auburn I & II, Brandy Station, Buckland Mills, Kelly's Ford, Manassas Gap, Middleburg, Rappahannock Station, Rappahannock II, Thoroughfare Gap, and Upperville.

We hope that you can join us in learning about conservation easements and how you can preserve your land and historic structures for future generations. The workshop is free and light refreshments will be served. To RSVP or for further questions, please call Maggi MacQuilliam at (540) 347-2334 ext. 29.
