Hosting the Small Farm Dream: Is It Right For You?
(Charlottesville, VA - February 16, 2009) The Piedmont Environmental Council is proud to announce and cordially invites residents to participate in our educational seminar, "Hosting the Small Farm Dream: Is It Right For You?" The seminar will take place on Saturday, March 7, at the Piedmont Virginia Community College from 10AM to 1:30 PM.
The purpose of the seminar is to help local residents explore the potential for profit on their land, to learn about farmer-landowner partnership options, review local case studies, discuss pros and cons and consider next steps.
"We are excited to bring this program to area residents about how they can engage themselves in farming and make a profit," said Melissa Wiley of the Piedmont Environmental Council. "This community has been very supportive of the local foods movement and we are pleased to help bring this educational resource to its residents."
Guest speakers for the event include: Joel Salatin and John Sproul of Polyface Farm, Ramona and Collins Huff of Gryffon's Aerie and Radell Schrock of Sweet Season's Farm and CSA.
Interested persons can register by calling 434-977-2033 or at www.buylocalvirignia.org
by March 5. The cost of the event is $10 without lunch and $17 with lunch. Attached is a flyer
