PEC Annual Meeting to be Held at Caledonia Farm on September 13
Renowned Environmentalist Lester Brown to Give Keynote Address
(Warrenton, VA - August 13, 2008) The Annual Meeting of the Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) will be held on Saturday, September 13 at Caledonia Farm in Flint Hill, Virginia. The meeting will run from 9 AM to 2:30 PM. Caledonia Farm is owned by Mr. Phil Irwin a founder of the PEC.
The day will include workshops on such important issues as; up to date information on the proposed transmission line through the Piedmont, uranium mining, the Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign, maintaining bird habitat and land conservation. Photographer Ken Garrett of the National Geographic Society will lead a workshop on his photographs taken for the Journey Through Hallowed Ground project.
The guest speaker for the Annual Meeting will be Lester Brown, founder of the Earth Policy Institute, who was called by the Washington Post as, "one of the world's most influential thinkers." PEC President Christopher G. Miller will also present his annual State of the Piedmont Address.

Food will be available for purchase from two "locavore" vendors, On the Fly and Red Truck Bakery. Attendees may bring their own picnics to the event if so desired.
