"Twenty years ago, Holmes Welsh and his brother, Sam, could look out the windows of their neighboring farmhouses and see acres of green.
Together, they made a living on the 270-acre dairy farm near Leesburg their family had owned since the 1760s.
Twenty years ago, the Welsh’s neighbors were also dairy farmers and Loudoun was dotted with nearly 100 dairy farms...Farming in Loudoun isn’t in any danger, said the county’s rural resources coordinator, Gary Hornbaker. It just doesn’t look the same as it used to.

"The Planning Commission voted 8-1 last week to recommend approval of plans to develop a new regional park along the Potomac River despite vehement opposition from neighbors. Commissioner Gigi Robinson (Leesburg) cast the lone vote in opposition.
If the Board of Supervisors gives final approval to the special exception, White’s Ford Park, at almost 300 acres, will be used for non-motorized boat launches into the Potomac, there will be hiking trails, and, in the second phase of development, a 60-site campground, with up to 10 cabins."

"Virginia’s General Assembly House Transportation Subcommittee voted unanimously to send House Bill 277, which potentially would create plans for a Western Bypass Corridor, to the full House Transportation Committee with a recommendation that it be referred to the House Appropriations Committee due to potential costs... Called the Western Bypass, the road would be a portion of a so-called Outer Beltway, which was first proposed in the 1950s and would encircle Washington D.C., possibly cutting through numerous existing communities, including in Loudoun."
