Residential development in Culpeper has grown significantly leading to a 29 percent increase in population since 2000. While the current housing market has led to a decrease in the number of new residential proposals, we continue to see new commercial development of strip malls and big box stores. During this slow period in the residential market, we have an opportunity to assess the impacts to our infrastructure from such rapid growth and proactively plan to protect our natural and historic resources from sprawl type development.
