Highlights from the 2009 Streamwatch report:
- Over 70% of StreamWatch's 32 representative monitoring sites failed the Virginia aquatic life water quality standard during this assessment period. Most failing sites were moderately degraded. Five sites (13%) were badly degraded. Nearly 30% of sites were in good or very good condition. (Representative sites are selected to represent the range of streams typical of the Rivanna basin).
- Average scores at representative tributary sites have not changed significantly during our 6½ years of comprehensive monitoring.
