Fauquier County, Virginia is a unique area containing some of the most scenic farmland in the United States. The County includes portions of the watersheds for the Rappahannock River, a State designated Scenic River and the water supply of the city of Fredericksburg; and for Goose Creek, Broad Run, Cedar Run, and the Occoquan River, all of which are major sources of drinking water for Northern Virginia. There is a greater concentration of land under easement in Northern Fauquier than anywhere else in the United States.
